Many of the photographs on this site where taken by Kevin Agin at the North Hearing Room of the Ohio Judicial Center in Columbus, Ohio. In the 1930’s this room was used by the Industrial Commission for such events as workers compensation hearings. The 11 murals, created by John F. Holmer and titled The Progress of Industry, depict the grind and dignity of physical labor. They reflect a style of public art, known as American Realism, that was popular throughout the 1930s.
