Worker's Comp Update

PDF Print

The Ohio Bureau of Workers’ Compensation has made several new administrative rules that will benefit injured workers.

The first change concerns injured workers who have received an amputation award.

These awards are currently paid over many months or even years.  The change will allow injured workers to receive the full amount of their award in one payment instead of in installments paid over a long time.

The second change involves the time frame for claims to be classified as inactive.  Claims are labeled “inactive” when no medical treatment or compensation is paid over a period of time.  The old time frame was 13 months.  The new period is now 24 months.  The extension to 24 months will eliminate additional delays and steps required when the injured worker requests new treatment.

If you are interested in learning more about these changes or any other workers’ compensation issues, please contact me.  I will be happy to speak to you about these or any other issues or questions you may have.
